The next tablet battleground could be the 12-inch market, according to industry rumors.
Both Apple and Samsung are planning to launch tablets with 12-inch screens, DigiTimesreported, citing “sources from the upstream supply chain.”
The sources claim Apple is working with Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta Computer on the tablet project.
Samsung had approached Google to jointly develop its tablet project, but decided to develop it in-house instead because Google is focusing on the 7-inch segment, they added.
If the rumors prove accurate and the two dominant smart device makers do launch 12-inch tablets, demand for large-screen tablets could swell rapidly.
