China Telecom has teamed up with ChinaCache International Holdings to jointly build out and manage a nationwide content delivery network (CDN) in the country.

Under the partnership, China Telecom will share its network resources and ChinaCache will provide CDN platform technologies, technical support and customer services.

China Telecom, the country’s largest fixed broadband carrier, currently has more more than 100 million broadband subscribers and accounts for more than 50% of broadband traffic across the country.

With the deal, ChinaCache can access to China Telecom's extensive broadband network and leverage its enterprise sales team to jointly promote the CDN network.

This will help ChinaCache increase its CDN penetration across the country, particularly among the internet enterprise, traditional enterprise, and government and media customer segments, the company said.

"The demand for high quality content and a better user experience is increasing among China's rapidly growing internet community,” said Song Wang, chairman and CEO of ChinaCache.

“This partnership, in particular, will enable us to further differentiate our company by demonstrating our commitment to best-in-class CDN platforms and optimization by utilizing high-quality network resources to bring more value to our customers."

The agreement also paves the way for future collaboration between the two companies on a series of value-added services, including big data, mobile internet and cloud computing, ChinaCache added.
