Cambodian operator Chuan Wei has contracted Alcatel-Lucent to deploy the nation's first 100G fiber network.

Alcatel-Lucent will provide a 100G DWDM/OTN for Chuan Wei using its 1830 Photonic Service Switch platform.

The nationwide network will be upgradeable to 400G to help meet future capacity needs, and will connect to a subsea cable landing station for international connectivity.

Cambodia's growing economy, expanding trade agreements and booming tourism industry are creating demand for increased network capacity, according to Chuan Wei executive director Eric Lee.

“We recognized the need to upgrade our network to meet customer expectations for ultra-broadband connectivity and high reliability especially as it pertains to international reach through Chuan Wei’s submarine cables,” he said.

“We were looking for a network with significant increase in capacity, even more reliability, and a high degree of scalability to prepare our network for 400G and beyond.”
