CSL on Friday launched a new e-commerce platform, giving customers the option to shop for handsets, voice and data plans as well as value-added services online.

CEO Tarek Robbiati said the platform will allow CSL to improve the customer experience by giving subscribers 24/7 access to look for devices and apps and make changes to their services plans. He said he doesn’t expect the online shop to reduce calls to customer support.

CIO Peter Smith told Telecomasia.net with the high cost of retail space in Hong Kong, the online platform can reduce traffic to its stores. “But people will of course still come in to get a feel for the devices,” said Smith.

The online shop (shop.one2free.com) features an interactive service called “Help me choose” that can recommend handsets and plans for existing customers based on their profile.

The company also introduced a Facebook application called My one2free Shop that allows users to rate and give comments on handsets and refer friends to the application.
