Ericsson, Intel unveil managed security for telcos

Ericsson has teamed up with Intel Security to developed managed security services for operators to bundle into existing enterprise services.

The companies will initially offer managed intrusion prevention system, email security and web security services, and may add more products to the portfolio at a later date.

Operators will provide regulatory compliance and local response capabilities for their enterprise customers, as well as the ability to combine communications services with security.

“Telecommunications networks are a critical component of the economic and social infrastructures that we rely upon,” Intel Security GM Chris Young said. “Together, Intel Security and Ericsson are working to keep the well over three billion people across the globe that use these systems safe and secure.”

He said the deal combines Ericsson's managed services expertise and global delivery capability with Intel Security's portfolio of consumer and enterprise security products and services.
