The Ethernet switch market grew nearly 20% sequentially in Q409, with major vendors Cisco, HP and Juniper adding nearly $600 million in combined incremental revenues, according to Dell'Oro.
“Year-end budget spending and supply constraints from the previous quarter helped propel market growth in the fourth quarter,” Dell'Oro researcher Alan Weckel said.
The research firm predicts that the market will continue to expand in 2010, as 10GE continues to grow in popularity.
Indeed, 10GE was the only market segment to post sequential port and revenue growth in 2009, and is expected to drive revenue in the Ethernet equipment market this year, Dell'Oro added.
