Huawei has opened an LTE lab in Tokyo, Japan. The company said it had shipped over 1.5 million transceivers for 4G base stations.

Microsoft is offering Windows Vista customers the chance to upgrade to Windows 7 for free or at a discounted cost. The program applies to OEM and boxed copies from participating manufacturers and retailers. Vista Home Basic is excluded.

Apple has raised its stake  in UK microchip designer Imagination Technologies to 9.5%.

Mobile Money Ventures, a JV between SK Telecom and Citibank, has launched a browser-based mobile banking service in the Philippines.

China\'s ministries of Culture and Commerce have banned the use of virtual currency in trade of real goods and services.

IP testing provider Ixia has completed the acquisition of Catapult Communications, and will re-brand Catapult\'s product line to IxCatapult.

Tata Teleservices has contracted ECI to provide routing and switching solutions for its new IP-based next-generation network.
