Major publishers News Corp, Time, Meredith, Hearst and Condé Nast have created a joint venture to develop an eReader tailored for magazine and newspaper content.
Alcatel-Lucent has won its 19th contract to help conduct an LTE trial, this time for France's Bouygues Telecom. Alca-Lu will be the sole supplier for the trial, which should begin in 2010.
ZTE has deployed an entirely solar- and wind-powered 3G base station in Shenzen, China for China Unicom.
Nortel has finalized the sale of its next-generation packet core networks assets to Hitachi for $10 million.
Australian operator Telstra has launched an SMS service giving customers free notifications from Facebook, as well as the ability to reply to messages and update their status via SMS.
Beijing Mobile will become the first operator in the region to deploy NSN's direct tunnel technology, which improves the efficiency of packet core networks.
