Fuji Television is providing original content to Netflix US, starting with a new series of Terrace House and drama serial Atelier.

After their initial exclusive premiere on Netflix, both programs are slated for distribution on Fuji TV On Demand, in addition to broadcast television.

Fuji Television said international distribution of its content through Netflix will boost its branding and grow its global audience.

Toru Ota, senior executive managing director of Fuji Television Network, said: “We have taken this bold initiative as we firmly believe it is a meaningful and significant endeavor in the context of the future of the television business. These two new shows will allow us to demonstrate to the world the high quality of our content and production standard”.

Greg Peters, president of Netflix Japan, added: “Netflix will commence its service in Japan this fall. We hope to use the opportunities from this project to transmit Japan’s amazing content to our customers in Japan and across the globe”.
