Mongolia's G-Mobile has contracted PCCW Global to provide an SMS fraud prevention solution to approve its application-to-person (A2P) SMS revenues.

Under the agreement, PCCW Global will provide its A2P ValueMax solution to help G-Mobile fight sim-box and gray route bulk SMS fraud.

Such practices involving using SMS back doors to bypass traditional bulk messaging delivery methods and cut mobile network operators out of the revenue chain.

A2P ValueMax combines an on-site SMS firewall with an additional managed security layer to provide dynamic protection against A2P SMS fraud.

“As an operator committed to delivering trusted and reliable services to our subscribers, we are looking forward to improved security across our network,” G-Mobile CEO Magnai Ganzorig said.

“Recovering lost revenue will also go a long way to ensure that we are in a position to introduce the very best mobile technologies into our network - advancements that will ultimately benefit our subscriber base.”

PCCW Global president for mobility, security and digital solutions Ronnie Klingner added that A2P ValueMax is designed to help mobile operators speedily regain control of their revenue streams.

“Its value is not only based on improved security, but also on revenue growth as well. Our intention is to change the SMS ecosystem by reversing the current trend of price erosion and replacing it with a better understanding of SMS market dynamics, while eliminating fraudulent traffic that reduces the real service value of the SMS,” she said.
