Global Cloud Xchange (GCX), a subsidiary of Reliance Communications, last Friday announced it will provide direct access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) via GCX's "pay-as-you-go" cloud platform Cloud X Fusion in Sydney.

GCX is also providing additional interconnections across multiple locations to offer enterprise customers fast and flexible access to the cloud.

AWS Direct Connect helps enterprises to establish private connectivity between AWS platform and their data center, office, or co-location environment. This helps to reduce network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.

Leveraging GCX's global network and products, Cloud X Fusion is said to provide low latency connectivity across developed and emerging markets in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

"Using Cloud X Fusion, businesses can take advantage of our enterprise grade connectivity from 90 countries to securely connect their on premise environments directly into an AWS Direct Connect port over our global infrastructure," said Bill Barney, CEO of Global Cloud Xchange.

In June, GCX announced a deal with Equinix to enable direct access to Equinix Cloud Exchange via GCX's Cloud X Fusion at six locations: Tokyo, Singapore, Los Angeles, Ashburn, London and Frankfurt.
