The Philippines' Globe Telecom is gaining traction with its flat-rate data roaming service, and has expanded its reach to 10 more countries.

The operator announced that its data roaming customer base grew by 40% in 2014. As a result of the expansion, the service is now available in over 80 countries worldwide.

For a daily charge of 599 pesos ($13.60), Globe's data roaming offering provides unlimited mobile data browsing. It comes bundled with free travel insurance valid for 30 days and covering emergencies worth up to 200,000 pesos.

The list of supported countries includes many APAC markets including China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.

Customers do not need to register ahead of time, and can activate the service via text messaging. The service is supported by a roaming hotline that can be called toll-free even while abroad.

“We are delighted to see that more and more Globe postpaid customers are enjoying our unlimited data roaming service as they stay connected while abroad without the need for Wi-Fi connection,” Globe VP for roaming Coco Domingo commented.
