The Philippines' Globe Telecom has launched a flat-rate unlimited data roaming service for its prepaid customers covering over 50 countries worldwide.

The company's new Prepaid Roam Surf plan offers unlimited data roaming for 599 pesos ($38.70) per day

Globe's new service covers countries including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

It also covers numerous European markets, North America and countries in South America and Africa.

Customers can also pay 1797 pesos for three days of unlimited data roaming or 2995 pesos for five days.

“Launching the Globe Prepaid Roam Surf is part of our commitment to enable more Globe customers to maximize their digital lifestyle even while abroad,” said Coco Domingo, vice president for Globe's Platinum and Roaming business.

Globe launched a 599 peso daily flat rate roaming service for postpaid customers in 2014. The service helped the operator increase its data roaming base by 40% last year.

SingTel has separately launched a monthly data roaming plan covering customers travelling to Australia priced at S$10 ($7.50) for the first 1GB of bundled data.

The operator's DataRoam Saver Australia plan is modelled after a similar plan SingTel has been offering in Malaysia since October. Excess data is charged at S$0.10 per MB.

SingTel is able to use Australian subsidiary Optus' network for the service, allowing it to offer the cheapest plan of its kind available to Singaporeans.
