Google has dropped a boyfriend tracker application from its Google Play store after complaints about the potential privacy implications of the service.

The tracking app allowed jealous partners to track the movements of their other half's phone, would forward copies of text messages, and could also initiate a phone call to whoever is doing the monitoring to allow them to listen to their partner's chats.

Despite the complaints, the app was downloaded 50,000 times and its developer claims the bulk of responses are positive.
