Hanoi Telecom Corporation has selected Infinera to provide the equipment for a metro network connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau.

Hanoi Telecom will use Infinera's TM-Series packet-optical platform for the rollout. Infinera acquired the TM-Series platform through the acquisition of Transmode in August.

The TM-Series platform offers capabilities including Ethernet/CE2.0, MPLS-TP and OTN aggregation.

Infinera will fulfil the contract by working closely with local systems integration partner Nissho Electronics Vietnam.

Hanoi Telecom has already deployed Infinera's DTN and ATN platforms in its network through Nissho Electronics.

“We are pleased to continue to deploy Infinera’s wide range of application specific solutions to help us meet our needs,” Hanoi Telecom chairwoman and CEO Trinh Minh Chau said.

“The Infinera TM-Series will support our metro applications where high density, low power and bandwidth scalability are critical for providing innovative services to our end customers.”

Infinera’s vice president of sales for Asia Andrew Bond-Webster added that this marks the first contract for the supply of equipment acquired from Transmode by an existing Infinera customer.

“Hanoi Telecom's deployment of the Infinera TM-Series underscores the significance of Infinera's expansion into the metro market,” he said.
