European fiber network operator Interoute is extending its coverage into Asia Pacific through a new point-of-presence (PoP) in Hong Kong.

The PoP is connected to Interoute’s pan-European network, which offers access to 29 countries and onward links to the US and Africa. Interoute states it chose Hong Kong because it is a key gateway into China and other emerging markets in the region, and offers access to a growing number of global enterprises.

Services available on the optical network include enterprise data and video, cloud computing and managed hosting.

“Hong Kong is fast becoming a must have office location for global enterprises. Its unique position makes it ideal for a base in the Asia-Pacific region and we’re seeing an increasing number of our customers expand into the area,” said Renzo Ravaglia, executive vice president of service providers at Interoute.
