Japanese vendor NEC has announced an expanded partnership with automated security solutions company A10 Networks focused on enhancing network security for operators and other service providers.

The agreement will see the two companies combine their capabilities to develop tools to help enhance service providers' ability to detect and respond to security threats.

A10 Networks' DDoS protection and firewall technologies will be combined with NEC's AI technology for increasing the accuracy of attack detection, as well as its orchestration technology for managing responses to cyberattacks depending on network status.

The companies will use the combined capabilities to help operators improve their security posture as they prepare to adopt 5G, according to NEC SVP Shigeru Okuya.

“NEC focuses on providing solutions for society, and looking ahead to the full commercial launch of 5G, we are enhancing our network security solutions for defending communication infrastructure against growing cyber threats," he said.

"NEC is proud to be collaborating with A10 Networks and contributing to the safe and secure operations of communication networks."

As well as telecoms operators, the companies will target the combined solutions at data center operators and webscale service providers.
