NTT Com said to plan data play in India

Japan's NTT Com is reportedly planning to launch data services in India, mainly targeting Japanese businesses operating in the nation.

Sources told the Japan Times that the company has acquired a national long distance license covering data services in India and is gearing up to commence a rollout.

The company will aim to cater to Japanese companies in India that are dissatisfied with the connections offered by local providers, the report states. There are around 1,200 Japan-related firms doing business in India.

NTT Com will also be able to launch VPN and cloud-based managed data services in the nation, and serve local Indian businesses as well.

NTT Com has meanwhile announced the launch of ithe second phase of its Hong Kong Financial Data Center (FDC).

Financial Data Center Tower 2 is a Tier IV ready, energy-efficient extension to the company's facility in the market. Its completion brings the FDC's total capacity up to more than 7,000 ranks, the largest in the city.

“Hong Kong is at the crossroads of China’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ development initiative where the city’s trade with Asian and European countries along the trade corridor has reached $670 billion in 2014,” NTT Com CEO Tetsuya Shoji said.

“However many local, Mainland China and global enterprises have yet to truly transform to a digital enterprise with a future-poof data center strategy to cope with the rampant growth of mobility, IoT, cloud and big data. The establishment of FDC2 is set to address the acute demand of enterprises’ digital transformation as they capitalize global business opportunities.”
