NTT DOCOMO picks NEC for OSS deployment

NTT DOCOMO chose NEC for the supply of operations support systems (OSS) that will be deployed by one of the latter’s US-based units, NetCracker Technology.

The OSS will manage the WDM network that links core networks and base stations, as well as control communications equipment, including L2 switches in LTE (long-term evolution) networks.

The system improves the quality and efficiency of network design by providing WDM network path design capabilities, even for multi-vendor networks.

This enables the construction of optimized networks for LTE and reduces CAPEX and OPEX by unifying network operations and making common reports that were formerly different for each separated network.
