Thailand’s opposition Democrat party held a press conference on Sunday 11 March announcing that they would be seeking the impeachment of ICT Minister Anudith Nakontap on grounds of false declaration of assets.

As an MP on 28 January 2008, Nakontap declared a deficit of debts exceeding assets by two million baht ($65,000).

As a minister on 10 April 2011, he declared net assets of 11 million baht, far beyond his pay as an MP.

Democrat Spokesperson Malika Boonmeetrakul said that the party’s legal team would be seeking his impeachment on grounds of false declaration of assets with the counter corruption commission.

She urged the ICT Minister to declare where his wealth came from in the period of three years as an MP.
