Australia's Optus has launched a new mobile offer allowing families, small businesses and others to pool their data allocations and share it across all eligible devices.

Customers will be able to pool data using any of the operator's latest postpaid mobile plans. Besides groups, the plans will also support single customers looking for an easy way to share data across their smartphone and tablet, Optus said.

All the plans will use a single bill to allow them to keep track of usage, and accounts can be monitored online via a browser or the My Optus mobile app.

Optus' new plans also come with unlimited standard national calls and SMS. The company's A$60 ($44) My Mobile Broadband Plus plan comes with 12GB of data, and the company has introduced an A$10 add-on plan that comes with 1.5GB of data.

“We want customers to get the most out of their mobile and tablet plans. Sharing from one data pool means you only have one bill and keeping track of data usage is so much simpler,” Optus vice president of mobile marketing Ben White said.

“Now, if mom doesn’t use all the data from her mobile phone plan, she doesn’t need to hand over her phone when the kids have already finished the data in their tablet, it’s already in the pool ready to share on their own devices.”
