Pacnet’s Singapore CloudSpace II (SGCS2) has been awarded the GoldPLUS rating under the Green Mark for Data Centres scheme by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).

The BCA-IDA Green Mark for Data Centres scheme assesses data centers based on five key criteria - energy efficiency, water efficiency, sustainable construction and management, indoor environment quality as well as other green features. Greater emphasis is placed on energy performance as data centers typically consume large amounts of energy.

The scheme has been jointly developed by BCA and IDA with support from the Energy Research Institute @ Nanyang Technological University (ERI@N) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in the US.

This award scheme is a dedicated green building rating system that is designed to encourage the adoption of energy efficient design, operation and management among data center operators in Singapore.

To achieve the award, Pacnet had to demonstrate the data center’s performance in overall energy efficiency, water efficiency, sustainable construction and management, and indoor environmental quality.

The eight-story, 155,000-square foot standalone facility located in Paya Lebar uses fully redundant power and cooling systems and advanced fire detection and suppression systems.
