PTCL, ZTE to build 'big video' innovation center

Pakistan's PTCL has established a joint innovation center with ZTE dedicated to creating “big video” technologies.

The venture will concentrate on creating new technologies, seeking partners and developing and operating new value added services in the areas of IPTV and OTT video.

The center is expected to help PTCL expand its SmartTV service with new VAS and a larger ecosystem of partners.

PTCL provides enterprise fixed and wireless broadband and DTV services as well as fixed voice telephony. The operator provides a range of services including GPON connectivity, triple play services, VoIP, cloud services, data hosting and data management capabilities.

The new agreement builds on the ongoing partnership between PTCL and ZTE, the companies said..

ZTE announced that its IPTV/OTT products have been deployed in more than 80 cases worldwide, with a combined active user base of around 38 million.
