Best Managed Support Services Vendor of the Year: Nokia Siemens Networks

Nokia Siemens Networks head of global services for Asia Pacific Sanjay Goel highlights this year's major successes.

Vodafone Hutchison Australia has outsourced its overall network operations to us while ICON+ Indonesia has also chosen NSN to manage its backbone network.

In Europe NSN is managing Orange's 2G/3G networks in the UK and Spain. In Russia, Mobile TeleSystems has outsourced the daily operations and maintenance of its entire mobile network to NSN to improve its operational efficiency and flexibility while decreasing associated network costs.

In the US NSN has signed an eight-year agreement with LightSquared to support its nationwide network, consisting of some 40,000 base stations, and will cover 92% of the US population by 2015.

What are the key trends that have supported your growth?

Globally the industry is moving toward managed services to optimize and drive down operating and capital expenditures.

Driven by the rapidly changing business environment, CSPs are changing their business focus, as network coverage and voice quality are no longer significant differentiators, particularly in developed markets. A huge rise in mobile data and video traffic has also been putting great pressure on margins. By outsourcing network management and operations, CSPs can reduce risks and compete more efficiently.

How is Nokia Siemens Networks differentiating itself in the managed support service area?

Our managed services is unique in many aspects. It adopts a centralized global delivery model through integrated, multi-technology, multi-vendor, central delivery hubs - global network solutions centers or GNSCs. Automated and standardized tools and processes are used to maintain consistent quality and efficiency.

Our network of services is designed to help customers to get to market faster through round-the-clock project management, an improvement of service delivery efficiency while reducing risks.
