Singapore's StarHub has launched a new online streaming service to allow customers to access the operator's pay TV content over-the-top on any device.

The new service, StarHub, Go, will include content from major producers including HBO, Sony Pictures Television, TVB and Discovery Networks.

StarHub's postpaid mobile and broadband customers will be able to add StarHub subscriptions to their monthly bills, while non customers can pay for unlimited access with a 30-day pass. StarHub's mobile customers will be offered unmetered mobile streaming.

The operator is offering the basic StarHub Go subscription for S$9.90 ($7), and premium and sports packs for S$19.90 and S$24.90 respectively. Go Premium includes HBO Asia's OTT service HBO GO.

“In our highly-connected nation, we recognize that consumers are increasingly accessing a wide variety of digital content across multiple devices,” StarHub head of entertainment Lin Shu Fen said.

“Therefore, the introduction of StarHub Go—with its carefully-curated line-up along with a superior viewing experience—is specially designed to address customers’ needs for an over-the-top streaming service.”

Pay TV operators are increasingly turning to streaming services to counter the competition from pure OTT providers such as Netflix, Youku Todou and others.
