StarHub has become Singapore's first major ISP to introduce a 1Gbps broadband service, and has added a new channel to its StarHub TV offering.

The operator has announced its new Dual Broadband 1000 plan, which will be available for sign-ups from Saturday.

The plan will cost S$69.90 ($55.90) per month for both a 1Gbps fiber connection and a 100Mbps cable link. It will come bundled with two free Wi-Fi routers as a launch promotion.

StarHub's launch comes months after the company introduced its Dual Broadband 500 plan, the market's first integrated fiber and cable home broadband offering.

Bundled with the new offer will be 16 channels from the operator's StarHub TV service and a free set-top-box.

The cable TV service is meanwhile getting a new channel. StarHub has announced that Scripps Networks International will launch US home lifestyle channel HGTV in Singapore from early next months.

HGTV will be the first regional channel dedicated to the Asian home and lifestyle category, airing content on topics including property, housing and design.

HGTV will be available on the Lifestyle Basic HD Upsize pack. StarHub plans to offer a free preview as a promotion.
