The Philippines' Sun Cellular grew its postpaid subscriber base by 18% to 1.81 million during the first quarter.

The PLDT subsidiary also improved its total subscriber base by 2% to 13.85 million, helping compensate for a 5% decline in ARPU to 452 pesos ($10).

According to the Manila Times, Sun is confident it can maintain its double-digit postpaid growth. and has set an ambitious target of becoming the market leader by the end of the year.

Globe took in postpaid revenues of 7.8 billion pesos in the first quarter, compared to 2.4 billion for Sun and 3.3 billion for fellow PLDT subsidiary Smart. This gives Globe a revenue market share of 57.8%.

To help further drive postpaid revenue and customer growth, Globe has introduced a new plan offering unlimited calls and texts to Globe and TM customers, as well as bundled extras including 1GB of cloud storage. The myLifestyle Plans start at 499 pesos a month.

Globe is also offering add-on mobile internet packs ranging from 100MB to 15GB per month, as well as an option to receive a smartphone for an additional 99 pesos on top of the base plan.
