Telstra broadband chief quits ahead of reshuffle

The head of Telstra’s key broadband and media business has resigned on the eve of a management reshuffle.
 
Chief executive David Thodey named a revamped team today, his first reshuffle since taking the top post last May.
 
But he has accepted the resignation of media and broadband boss, Justin Milne, who becomes the third top exec to leave since Thodey became CEO. Former CFO David Moffatt and consumer chief Holly Kramer have also since departed.
 
J. B. Rousselot, a six-year Telstra executive, will replace Milne as new executive director of voice, broadband and media from June 1.
 
Thodey said the reshuffle created four new groups based around customer sales and support, product and marketing innovation, operations and corporate support.
 
Former Hewlett Packard executive Gordon Ballantyne will take over as group managing director of Telstra Consumer and Channels in June, replacing the acting head, Glenice Maclellan.
 
Kate McKenzie, formerly group managing director of strategic marketing, will become the first chief marketing officer. 
 
Robert Nason will assume responsibility for corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and the program office as well as his current job as head of customer experience, simplicity and productivity.
 
"The way we work - everything from our corporate decision making processes to the way we serve our customers at the frontline - needs to be simplified,” Thodey said.
 
Telstra remains in protracted negotiations with the government over the price of its fixed-line assets, which are intended to form the basis of the government’s next-generation fiber project.
 
The government is also trying to win Senate support to split Telstra into wholesale and retail units.
