Thuraya has new CEO

Thuraya Telecommunications Company has appointed Samer Halawi as chief executive officer, succeeding Yousuf Al Sayed, who returned to the Etisalat Group in January.

Sayed, who has been the company’s CEO since 1998, is now serving as a board member of the company.

Prior to joining Thuraya, Halawi has held several leadership positions in major regional and international telecom firms. He brings several years of experience in managing satellite telecom businesses and major customers across the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
