It's time for a quick roundup on news from vendors from the last few days that's worth a look:

Ciena had two interesting contract announcements this week. QTS is using Ciena's Waveserver DCI platform to power its HyperConnect Platform. More specifically, it's providing 400Gbps connectivity between QTS's new data center and the hub at 350 East Cermak.

And yesterday Southern Cross announced they had launched Elastic bandwidth services on its submarine cable system with the help of Ciena's Blue Planet suite. Blue Planet's VWAN solution supplemented by other Ciena solutions hooks up data centers in Seattle, Portland, San Jose, Los Angeles, Sydney, Fiji, Hawaii, and Auckland.

Windstream is adding some new gear to its infrastructure. They've selected Coriant's Groove G30 DCI platform as part of their 100G data center interconnection services. The deployment in New York City also leverages 200G coherent optics and software from Coriant and has already facilitated a recent 10x100G wavelength deal for an unnamed global content provider.

Infinera has announced that its Xceed Software Suite is stepping into the light, or more properly the Open Daylight. In what Infinera describes as the first optical transport SDN solution powered by Open Daylight, Infinera's software has successfully complied with the standards and quality based on the ODL specifications.

And finally, Ericsson and Cisco are teaming up in Central America. Telecom Guatemala is upgrading its IP backbone, and is using Cisco's routers and Ericsson's integration services to make it happen. The arrangement between the two vendors derives from the global partnership they formed in 2015. The upgrade will bolster the capabilities of Telefonica Guatemala's LTE network, among other things.
