Vietnam cable operator VTVCab, SmarDTV and Samsung have made it easier for consumers to access VTVCab pay-TV services – without using a set-top box.

VTVCab subscribers can now access content directly on new Samsung TVs, by using the newly developed CI Plus Instant Access conditional access module (CAM) from VTVCab.

The CAM replaces the traditional set-top box (STB), and offers an attractive alternative to new subscribers who migrate to digital services.

Gregory Laloy, APAC sales director of SmarDTV, said: “SmarDTV Instant Access modules ensure that channels are directly accessible on integrated Digital Televisions (iDTVs) using one single TV remote control and that neither extra cables nor additional power is required”.

Nam Bui, CTO of VTVCab, said the use of integrated digital TVs and CAM will give the company more flexibility in promoting high definition and 4K content in future.

My Nguyen, head of Samsung Vietnam AV marketing communication, said consumers who buy a Samsung DVB-C iDTV Model J5520 can get a CAM from VTVcab that contains a smartcard. They will also receive a free six-month HD subscription to VTVCab services.
