Webwire: DoCoMo to spend $11b on LTE; Amazon to make phone: Citigroup

Japan's NTT DoCoMo plans to spend around $11.4 billion rolling out its LTE network, and hopes to launch its first LTE smartphones by the country's winter.

Analysts from financial conglomerate Citigroup expect Amazon to follow its tablet foray with the launch of an Amazon smartphone in the last quarter of 2012.

 

Samsung is gearing up to launch a modified version of its Galaxy Tab in Germany to avoid a sales ban. A court put the stoppers on shipments after Apple claimed the 10.1-inch model infringes several of its patents.
