The International Cricket Council (ICC) has convinced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to use Pakistan’s name as hosts on their kits for the forthcoming Champions Trophy, sources told Telecom Asia Sport (telecomasia.net).

The Indian media has reported that the BCCI had categorically refused to wear jerseys with Pakistan’s name as the host. They were ready to use UAE's name as hosts as India were going to play all their matches in Dubai.
Due to the political tension, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had conveyed to the ICC that the Indian kit will not feature Pakistan’s name during the Champions Trophy and instead use UAE's name as the hosts. But the ICC has finally convinced the BCCI that all teams will use the official logo with Pakistan's name as hosts.
Pakistan was originally scheduled to host the 2025 Champions Trophy but the ICC had to resort to a hybrid model as the Indian government refused to allow the team to travel to Pakistan. India will play all their matches in Dubai.
BCCI's contention, the sources said, was that they are playing all their matches in the UAE and consider it as the host. So, they must be allowed to use the UAE’s name rather than Pakistan's.
As per the ICC regulations in the Members Participation Agreement, all teams have to use the name of the hosts on their jerseys. As per the rules, all teams have to send the kit to the ICC for approval of the logos and other specifications. If a team is not using the official logo it is reminded of its obligations.
All eight teams will now use the logo with Pakistan’s name as hosts.
Ever since it emerged that India will not be portraying Pakistan’s name, there have been reports of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) taking a strong notice of it. But they are not worried about it as it is up to the ICC to handle the matter.
PCB sources also point out that Pakistan has shown great generosity by portraying India’s name as the host during the 2021 T20 World Cup, even though the event was held in the UAE due to the COVID situation in India. In the same manner, Pakistan used jerseys with India’s name in the 2016 T20 World Cup and 2023 ODI World Cup.
PCB sources say that there is a feeling in the country that Pakistan has been at the receiving end ever since India refused to send its team to Pakistan. In response, the PCB took a strong stance and only agreed to a hybrid model on the condition that they also would not send their team to India in future ICC events.
India also refused to portray Pakistan’s name on their shirts in the 2024 Asia Cup, which was also hosted on a hybrid model with India playing its matches in Sri Lanka
The latest scenario has left the situation for the 2025 Asia Cup in a confused state. India is the host of the 2025 Asia Cup and with Pakistan unlikely to travel there, the event may get relocated to Oman, sources said.
PCB has conditionally agreed to host the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model and have told the ICC they will not travel to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup in case the need arises. Sri Lanka is the co-host of that event, meaning Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka.
India and Pakistan only play in multi-national events and have not played a bilateral series since 2012. The last bilateral Test series between the two nations was in 2007 when Pakistan visited India. India last toured Pakistan for a Test series in 2006 and two years later featured in the Asia Cup hosted in Pakistan.
