Osmar Olvera, Mexican double Olympic medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (silver and bronze) begins a new cycle towards Los Angeles 2028, but the road will be even better accompanied by his family.
In an exclusive interview for TelecomAsia Sport, Sergio Olvera, her father and football coach, as well the diver himself, talk to us about the importance of family unity around an athlete, as well as the possibility that Maylin, daughter an sister respectively, could also be part of the Olympic Games in football flag discipline.
I feel in my heart that everything I have tried to be, intense, and all those who know me, today have given me this result, today I have two children in the journey of reaching the Olympic Games, it gives me immense pride and I think I am completely that they are going to achieve it.
I'm going to be the happiest being the first dad to have two children representing their country.
Before his notable emotion, coach Olvera added: "We dreamed it, we worked on it. Clear objectives and goals, and now Maylin just had to do what she has to do, but it is a dream", he said.
For his part, Osmar mentioned that like his father, it is still a dream for him to qualify for his first Olympic Games (Paris 2024), in a jorueny that took place step by step over a four-year cycle.
Regarding his sister's process, he mentioned:
And knowing that my sister is also going through this journey, I think both are very happy.
We were fortunate to be there (Paris 2024). My family saw my competition, they were very motivated to feel the Olympic dream. Without a doubt I believe that she (Maylin) is motivated".
