Jadon Sancho has sparked outrage among Manchester United supporters as he commented “freedom” under Marcus Rashford’s Instagram post following his debut for Aston Villa on Sunday.

Rashford made his debut appearance by coming off the bench in Villa's 2-1 FA Cup victory over Tottenham after securing a loan move to Aston Villa before the January transfer deadline, with the club holding a £40m option to make the deal permanent this summer. Before the switch to Villa, Rashford was frozen out of the United squad under new manager Ruben Amorim, missing 13 consecutive matches.
Sancho, who is also on loan at Chelsea from United, suffered a similar fate at Old Trafford after being dropped by Erik ten Hag following the Dutchman’s remarks about the winger’s lack of application. The former Manchester United forward appeared to have shown support for Rashford as his former United teammate returned to the pitch.

Following the end of the match, Rashford posted a series of images from his Villa debut, along with the caption “thank you for the warm welcome, great team performance.” Sancho replied, “freedom” with prayer and raised hands emojis. Sancho's comment seems to have angered United fans as they showed their disappointment with Sancho’s performances following a £72m move to the club in 2021.
Rashford looked bright in his brief cameo as he kicked off his bid to revive his career, as the 27-year-old forward looks to be enjoying life at Villa with his performances improving on the pitch.
