Hardy has starred in numerous blockbusters, but one of the main films of his career was Warrior. The sports drama by Gavin O`Connor was released on September 9, 2011, and was nominated for an Oscar. Tom played one of the main roles.

According to the movie plot, Hardy was a very tough MMA fighter, and Tom had to do some serious training. The actor wanted to look harmonious in the frame without the help of his stunt doubles.

Tom's preparation for Warrior was supervised by Patrick Monroe, a friend of the actor and a former marine. Hardy got up at seven in the morning, ate toast with peanut paste, and then went to the gym, drinking a protein shake on the way.

Monroe and Hardy took four liters of water with them for an active workout. The program included two hours of boxing, two hours of pad work, and then two hours of muay thai and BJJ classes. Hardy also practiced fight choreography to look as natural as possible in the film. The training lasted six hours, after which there was a break. After a break, Tom had one more class to build muscle mass. The actor trained like that five times a week.

This approach bore fruit. At the beginning of the training process, Hardy weighed about 73 kilograms, and at the end, he was 85-86 kg.

Besides that, Tom Hardy was engaged in mixed martial arts together with UFC fighters at The Wolfslair MMA Academy under the watchful guidance of the gym's founder, Anthony McGann.

Before filming, the actor had to limit his food intake to 3,500 calories per day. Hardy cut carbohydrates and ate small portions. Tom ate only chicken breasts and broccoli, completely avoiding flour, sweets, and any fast food. Such restrictions have brought their benefits - Hardy was shredded and looked awesome in the cage.

The actor didn't forget about sports supplements - proteins and BCAA in the process of training. Tom Hardy reduced the amount of body fat to a minimum. As a result, Tom gained 12 kg of pure muscle mass.

The British actor admitted that his training was very difficult, but he found himself in it. He liked doing BJJ so much that he continued to improve his skills even after the release of Warrior. Now the actor has already reached the blue belt and even wins competitions. In addition, Hardy is an avid MMA fan and is friends with former UFC champion Cody Garbrandt.
