The L2-3 Ethernet Switch market is forecast to approach $25 billion in 2015, with growth being driven primarily from sales of Ethernet switches optimized for larger data center deployments.
By 2015, Dell'Oro Group expects that over half the revenue in this market will be comprised by speeds greater than 1000 Mbps.
The group believes that in the outer years of its forecast, 40 GE will not only be used in the aggregation layer, but will begin to penetrate the server access market as well.
