ABC News Now to be distributed in India

(Satellite Today via NewsEdge) Distributors have reached a deal to provide the ABC News Now service via satellite TV in India, marking the first time that the network's 24-hour news carrier will be seen outside of the US.

According to parent firm Walt Disney Co., ABC News Now will be shown on Dish TV, India's largest digital outlet, before the end of the year. A subscription service, the programming is currently available to more than 25 million people through broadband, digital cable, satellite and wireless phone.

In addition to "World News" and "20/20," the service offers a variety of specialized ABC News Now shows such as its "Healthy Life" medical news, interviews and features.
