Amazon Prime is launching this month Prime Video to offer thousands of Japanese and American movies and TV shows, anime, music concerts, variety shows and Amazon Originals. Unlimited 24x7 access will be available to new and existing Prime members at no additional cost to their Prime membership.

Prime Video will be available anytime, anywhere on the Amazon Video app for Android and iOS phones and tablets, Fire tablets, game consoles and smart TVs.

In addition to standard and high-definition viewing, Prime members will be able to enjoy select titles in 4K Ultra HD picture quality.

“As we’ve shown with the launch of Prime Video in the US and around the world, we are investing significantly to bring high-quality, local and popular programming to Prime members, and our customers in Japan should expect the same investment,” said Jasper Cheung, president of Amazon Japan.

“We’ve been offering videos and DVDs in Japan for 15 years [so] we know the entertainment customers want, and we plan to deliver it with Prime Video—all at no additional cost,” said Cheung.

In 2014 alone, Amazon invested $1.3 billion in content for Prime Video. That investment has continued in 2015, including in Japan.
