Amdocs is buying US-based mobile network optimization software company Actix for $120 million in cash.

In a statement, Amdocs said “the acquisition expands the company’s customer experience portfolio further into the network domain to manage customer experience across both networks and IT.”

Amdocs claimed the acquisition will allow it to become first vendor to offer customer experience-driven network optimization based on a holistic view of the customer experience across all networks, BSS and OSS.

The company will be able to combine geo-located network information provided by Actix’s solutions with customer data and capabilities from Amdocs’ policy management, BSS and OSS systems.

Amdocs said the boards of both companies have approved the deal which, subject to conditions, is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Actix was founded in 1991, and said its solutions have been deployed by mobile operators in more than 50 countries worldwide.
