The Amos 3 communications satellite set for launch next March is expected to generate $500 million in revenue from the sale of services over 18 years, says Spacecom Satellite Communications president and CEO David Pollack.

The Amos 3 will cost $170 million.

Pollack said Spacecom already had $160 million in orders backlog for the satellite, six months before its launch.

The Amos 3 is now undergoing final assembly, including the fitting of antennas. The satellite will then be sent to Germany for testing, before going to Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazahkstan for launch.
