AppliedMicro has launched what it is calling the industry's highest density, lowest power 10G/40G OTN SoC for carrier Ethernet and WDM transport systems.

The product, PQX, has 60 Gigabits of total capacity, up to three times higher than existing solutions and incorporates the latest 10G and 40G standards. It provides IO bandwidth of 240Gbps at high performance.

But PQX consumes a typical power of less than 1.5W per 10G port when used in a carrier Ethernet configuration – almost halving typical power consumption levels, AppliedMicro said.
