Broadband CPE revenue to reach $4.6b

Global broadband CPE revenue is expected to increase to $4.6 billion by 2008, fueled by the convergence of voice, data and video services. According to Infonetics, voice-enabled broadband CPE, in particular, will benefit from this convergence. Voice CPE revenue in the third quarter grew 2% quarter-on-quarter to $188.4 million, making it market's biggest quarter to date. Annual voice CPE revenue is forecast to grow 123% between 2004 and 2008 with the increasing adoption of VoIP by consumers and enterprises alike. Overall broadband CPE revenue dipped 5% quarter-on-quarter to $1.2 billion, but shipments increased 8% to 28.8 million. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 28% of this, prompting Infonetics to project that it would be the leading broadband region by 2008.
