Broadband set for takeoff in Thailand

Thailand's broadband customer base is expected to reach 2.9 million by 2009. A Hot Telecom report says the country's broadband base, which grew 353.3% in 2004, was on track to reach 449,000 in 2005. Over the next five years, Thai ISPs will continue focusing on ADSL services. As of the end of the first quarter of 2005, Thailand's Internet user base was 10.9 million - 3.8 million subscribers and 7.1 million users accessing the Internet through commercial ISPs. The market is still dominated by dial-up services, which accounts for more than 94.5% of all subscriptions.
