Call for nominations: Readers' Choice & Innovation Awards 2015

Hong Kong, August 4, 2015 – Telecom Asia is once again calling on analysts and telcos to nominate the best telecom equipment and software suppliers in 20 categories for the 8th annual Readers’ Choice & Innovation Awards.

Nominations are open until September 8. Telecom Asia editors will review the nominations to establish a final shortlist of nominees to be included in the final ballot to be voted on by our reader base of telecom professionals across Asia.

Online voting will open soon after the shortlist is completed.

Nomination Criteria:
* Overall quality of innovation and contribution to technology advancement (60%)
* Vision and industry leadership (30%)
* Market acceptance - market share growth, market share and new customer acquisition (10%)
* Based on performance in 12 months prior to Aug 1, 2015 - nominated products/services should have been available by August 1, 2015
* All nominated innovations should be aimed at the telecoms market, although solutions that target both telcos and enterprises will also be accepted

CATEGORY

DESCRIPTION

LTE Innovation of the Year

Product or solution related to LTE networks

Can include radio, backhaul, EPC, any technology covered in 3GPP standards

Covers FDD LTE, TDD LTE and LTE-A

Small-cell Innovation of the YearProduct or solution related to small cell

solutions

Can include femtocells, Wi-Fi, hetnets, etc

Cloud Innovation of the YearProduct or solution that enables telcos to offer or enhance cloud services

SDN/NFV Innovation of the Year

Product or solution that enables network virtualization for telcos

Must be focused on telco network. SDN solutions for data centers should be submitted under the Data Center category

5G Innovation of the Year

Product or solution related to development of 5G technologies

Can be specific elements of 5G or overall architecture
Because “5G” is loosely defined at the moment, we will consider technology solutions billed by the entrant as “5G” or “pre-5G”

Broadband Innovation of the Year

Product or solution related to fixed broadband access

Can include FTTx, xDSL, DOCSIS

Does not include fixed wireless solutions or satellite-based solutions

Analytics Innovation of the YearProduct or solution that delivers analytics capabilities to telcos
CEM Innovation of the YearProduct or solution that helps telcos to improve and manage the customer experience
Network Optimization Innovation of the Year

Product or solution that helps telcos to optimize network performance

Solutions must be designed specifically to improve network performance, rather than solutions where improved performance happens to be a benefit (i.e. LTE-A or VoLTE)

Optical Network Innovation of the Year

Product or solution related to fiber-optic networks

Can include metro, short-haul, long-haul, ultra-long-haul, etc.

Does not include FTTH access

OSS Innovation of the YearProduct or solution related to OSS
BSS Innovation of the YearProduct or solution related to BSS
Data Center Innovation of the YearProduct or solution related to data centers for telcos
Can include servers, software, connectivity, modules, containers, etc
Can also include SDN solutions specific to data centers
Test & Measurement Innovation of the YearProduct or solution related to test and measurement solutions
Telecoms Security Innovation of the YearProduct or solution related to telecoms security
Video Solution Innovation of the Year

Product or solution that enables video services for telcos

This can include OTT video, mobile TV, multiscreen solutions, etc

IoT/M2M Solution Innovation of the Year

Product or solution that enables IoT/M2M services for telcos

Can include platforms, architectures, hardware (i.e. modules), middleware, etc

Wireless Network Project of the Year

For the most innovative or ambitious deployment of a wireless network

“Wireless” can include 2G/3G, Wi-Fi, FDD LTE, TDD LTE, LTE-A, LTE-Broadcast, LTE-M, LAA (License Assisted Access)

Broadband Project of the Year

For the most innovative or ambitious deployment of a fixed broadband network

Can include FTTx, xDSL, DOCSIS

Does not include fixed wireless solutions or satellite-based solutions

Mobile Payments Project of the Year

For the most innovative or ambitious deployment of a mobile payments service for telcos

Can include NFC, mobile wallet, remittance, banking, in-app purchases, m-commerce, etc

Project must involve a telco as a partner
