The Metro Ethernet Forum held last month the latest leg of its "world tour" in Bangalore in which Reliance Communications and Tata Communications took part.

MEF COO Kevin Vachon said the group sees Carrier Ethernet as a key enabler for extending India's remarkable economic success and, in particular, for ushering in the next phase of its telecommunications revolution.

Editors who attended the pre-workshop press briefing were also provided with an update on the MEF's newly approved Carrier Ethernet for mobile backhaul implementation agreement, which explains how to apply existing MEF specifications and industry standards to meet the increasing demands on remote access network backhaul driven by the growth in mobile data and other high bandwidth applications.
