Certified mobile Wimax products out now

Wimax Forum has announced the first batch of certified mobile Wimax products running on the 2.3 GHz frequency.

All eight products - four base stations and four subscriber unit modules - went on display during the recent Wimax Forum Asia Congress held in Singapore

The products are from Wimax Forum member companies POSDATA, Runcom Technologies, Samsung Electronics Co., LTD and Sequans Communications.

These products underwent testing for interoperability and compliance with mobile Wimax standards, according to the Wimax Forum.

The products were certified in collaboration with the Wimax Forum's lead certification testing laboratory, AT4 wireless, in Malaga, Spain, and members of the Telecommunications Technology Association's IT Testing & Certification Lab from Seoul, Korea.

Ron Resnick, Wimax Forum president, said the first batch of certified products for the 2.5 GHz frequency will be introduce in the next few months.

The Wimax Forum projects there will be more than 133 million Wimax users globally by 2012, with 70 percent of forecasted users will be using mobile and portable Wimax devices to access broadband Internet services.
