China Mobile taps HP for Wireless City plan

China Mobile has selected HP to provide solutions for the carrier’s “Wireless City” platform.

HP will deliver its HP Autonomy solutions to power the search capability of platform, which allows users to access information on public services directly from their mobile phones.

China Mobile has approximately 740 million subscribers as of July 2013. China Mobile said its Wireless City is its most critical project during the country’s five-year economic development initiative that began in 2011.

The company said that with the integration of HP search technology, Wireless City users can search through more than 8,000 applications for public service information, and receive more accurate results.


Information available to users through Wireless City includes most public services, like public transportation schedules, public health records and traffic offences.


HP solutions currently power China Mobile’s official website search features, and are also used by several provincial companies within the China Mobile Group.
