The Telecom Asia Awards are the joint efforts of three groups - the Ovum Asia-Pacific telecommunications team, the judging panel and Telecom Asia editors.
The judging takes places in three stages. In the first, Ovum researchers conduct diligence on all of Asia's listed telecom service providers and create a shortlist in the Mobile, Broadband, Emerging Market and India categories.
For the Managed Services, Wholesale and Satellite categories, candidates self-nominate and make a submission about their operations in Asia-Pacific.
In the second stage the judging panel in to make its selections, based on detailed criteria in areas of financial performance, market leadership, technology and corporate governance.
For the other categories - Telecom CEO of the Year, Telecom Innovation of the Year and Best New Technology - judges vote on a shortlist based on reader and editor nominations.
Finally, the Best Asian Telecom Carrier is chosen from 'best of the best' among the seven carrier categories.
