Chorus taps Alca-Lu, Comptel for UFB solution

New Zealand-based Chorus chose Alcatel-Lucent and to provide the telecommunications infrastructure company with a new fiber fulfillment and inventory solution for its open access fiber services.

The solution will assist retail service providers in New Zealand to create new services for customers using the new Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) network that Chorus in May 2011 rolled out in 24 of 33 areas nationwide.

Chorus is contracted to deploy around 17,000km of new fiber optic cables to areas covering around 70% of the homes and businesses within the UFB fiber to the home footprint.

Alcatel-Lucent will serve as the systems integrator for the Comptel Fulfillment CF8.0 implementation project, providing professional services consisting of project management as well as the design, building, testing, and deployment of the OSS for the network.
